Founder Success Story QnA
How much money do you make?
In our first year business we’re going to make over like around 1.2 to 1.5 million dollars.
How old are you?
I’m 19.
What do you do?
We built software products. One of the biggest products we have built is if you’ve seen on TikTok you’ve seen all these AI Drake covers and all these AI SpongeBob videos, we actually built the tech for that.
How long did it take you to make this?
It took me a week.
How did you afford $3,000 in GPU credits every single day for those first weeks?
I didn’t. I launched it for fun, and then I realized I should make some back, so I put a $1 subscription per month. In the first hour of launching, I had $95 of $1 subscriptions paid, and by the end of day one, it was $2,000.
How did you get this out into the world? How did you market it?
We realized early on that to create any type of viral product, you want to make a lot of controversy. We ended up spending a lot of time with UGC content creators and created an affiliate program. We had around 4,000 people make TikTok pages and put our links out there.
Are there any other organic marketing hacks or viral loops?
There are two things about our distribution plan. One was TikTok really early, but the traffic from TikTok isn’t high quality. Then we started doing long-form content with influencers on YouTube. One video had 300,000 views and brought in $30,000 in revenue in a month.
What’s your plan for the future of your app?
I want to build a legit company. Music is a $25 billion market, but gaming is a $250 billion market. We’re working on a B2B product for gaming companies to generate audio for games, voice actors, and sound effects.
How do you plan to get customers for the B2B side?
The two people that invested in us have connections in the gaming space. We can get our first 10-20 customers through them, get learnings, and then scale from there.
What’s your tech stack?
We use TypeScript, JavaScript, Next.js as our framework, and Superbase as our database. We don’t use any APIs for Music.FI – we run everything locally on Modal, which is a serverless GPU company.
How did you learn to code?
I learned how to code in the span of like a year and a half entirely from no code to knowing how to build products.
How do you see the AI landscape changing?
I think there’s definitely going to be a lot more micro apps being built because the entry is now way easier. At the same time, there will be companies that take over whole industries because they have compute. If you have GPUs, you can do anything.
How would you suggest someone who doesn’t know how to code start a software company now?
Find someone that has distribution first. All developers want something that they can get to 100,000 users quickly. If you have distribution, you have what they want. Then find a developer, and you can build something together.
What are the best ways to market a SaaS without content creators?
Affiliates is huge. If you can understand affiliates and provide someone a reason to share your product, that’s a big thing. Also, having a good product that people will talk about, and creating viral demos.
What’s the number one thing that you’ve learned that you think is true now that you didn’t think was true in the past?
If you just stay consistent at something, something will end up working. Success is 80% consistency and 10% luck and 10% skill.
