Founder Success Story QnA
Tell me a little bit about yourself. How old are you? Where are you in the world?
I’m originally from the States. I grew up on the East Coast, New England area. I actually recently moved out to Texas just because I have the freedom to do so now. I’m 29. I went to college and everything like that. The first five or six years out of college, I was working just a regular job in finance. So boring, but I always knew I wanted something more than just working that 9 to 5 clocking in and out.
How did you hear about The Real World?
I actually found it on social media. I listened to a couple of the emergency meetings. I was following the tape for a while. What actually drew me in is I see negative news, fake news and all that stuff. I’m like, let me check this out for myself. And I actually ended up being like, oh, this is I’m actually learning a lot. Like there’s all these other online courses that people try to sell you and they’re not as in-depth. Here it’s more in-depth, and you have other people that are like-minded on the same mission as you.
What campuses did you start in first?
The e-commerce campus. I started there while I was still in my last job back in Boston. The course material really helped from A to B everything that I needed to know to set myself up.
And then you transitioned into which ones?
The content creation and AI campus. I really liked video editing, so I learned that skill through that campus. Then about a year and a half ago I started in the SMCA campus by Professor Moneybag himself and started to build my social media because I know that’s really the future for marketing.
How have you found that? And where has that taken you?
It’s really helped. The way Professor Moneybag structures the campus, the daily checklist really helps. That’s the first thing I do when I wake up, after the gym. He makes it so easy to follow how to grow your social media, how to get clients. That was the one thing I struggled with a lot. Coming from a back office financial accounting field, I didn’t know if I wanted to deal with people. But I realized I need communication skills. I need to learn how to sell if I want my dreams and goals to come true.
Did you leave your work to continue with this?
Yeah, I did. I did in September. I was starting to make good money covering my expenses. I was like, I don’t need to stay here. I can just go. I want to test it out and it’s been great so far. I’ve been here the last nine months.
Did you start making money from e-commerce or from AI social media?
I did make a little bit of money from e-commerce. Not a lot though. I felt like I was putting in more with the ads. It was gig by gig up until September. Within the last nine or 10 months is when things started kicking up. Since September, I’ve made over $26,000 profit from The Real World.
What was the hardest part about the whole journey?
It’s definitely a nerve-wracking experience to leave a stable job. I was making good money at my last job. That’s when I really started making money in my business. It’s now or never. With any business, there’s ups and flows. It’s not a set salary. At that point I had one or two clients that were recurring. I moved out and I still was not confident in my skill. As Professor Moneybag always says, experience breeds confidence.
Would you say your biggest breakthrough was that client whose video got 30-40k views? Did that help you get more clients?
Yes, that one was my biggest breakthrough. It was a well-established channel with over 100 thousand subscribers. My first video I made for him got like 30 or 40,000 views. Before then he was averaging maybe a couple hundred to a thousand. I used that and leveraged that for outreach.
Financially, where are you now? And where do you see it in the next two years?
Since September, I’ve made over $26,000 profit. I’m steadily making about three or four thousand a month right now. The future goal within the next six months is to close two more clients on one of my higher ticket offers that would bring me to 10K a month. I try to set realistic goals, not saying I’m going to be a millionaire by 31. I plan it per month – add an extra $1,000 this month, then next month close another client.
In your friendship circle, do you have friends around or do you just communicate with The Real World guys?
I have a very limited friend group here. I try to put myself out there and join groups like Toast Masters. I met someone there and told him about my business.
How would you introduce a friend to The Real World?
I described it as a campus that has these professors that actually did what they’re teaching rather than most universities where the guy went to get his masters, is still $400,000 in debt, and is just teaching you what he learned in a book rather than actually doing it.
How would you say The Real World has helped you? Could you have achieved this without it?
It really breaks it down in a structured way. The course materials and the calls every day help. The community is the big differentiator. I’d still be running circles if I wasn’t in The Real World. The hardest thing to get over initially is analysis paralysis, researching not thinking you have enough information to take action, but it’s really the action that helps you get to that next step.
