Founder Success Story QnA

Can you tell me about yourself and what you do?

I work in wealth management myself. I do investments for high net worth clients. When it comes to the real world, I signed up in November of 2023. I just heard about it through social media and all that stuff. I thought it was interesting. I’ve never attended an online university before. I’ve never paid for courses to be honest. I’m of the mentality that if you want something, the information is easily accessible if you want it hard enough to be able to find it online. But I heard a lot of good things about the university through a couple of friends, so I said why not check this out?

How old are you and what was your path to the investment business?

I just turned 31. I work under a bigger bank. I went to university and studied finance. I always had the goal that I wanted to work at a big bank, live downtown, do my own thing there, buy my own place, all this. These were all things that my parents instilled in me when I was younger and I’m very grateful to them for that because I feel like when you have a general idea of what direction you’re going, you’ll do things to get yourself in that direction to get there eventually.

What motivated you to pursue success beyond a regular job?

Growing up, coming from an immigrant family, going to McDonald’s every two weeks was like the highlight of my two weeks. My parents always did enough to put food on the table, and I’m so grateful to them for that. But there’s so much more out there in the world, and why shouldn’t I be someone who can go and achieve those things now that I’ve been given the opportunity. That’s what really lit my fire from a young age.

When you joined The Real World, which campus resonated with you most?

I signed up for quite a few of the campuses, but the crypto was the main thing that I was interested in just because I was lucky enough to already have an existing asset base to a certain extent. It was like how can I maximize this asset base? I already had a good knowledge of stocks and all these things, but crypto was the next level.

What was your experience with crypto before joining The Real World?

I had crypto back in 2020, but it was all over the place. I was holding all these random coins, didn’t know what they were or what the point was. They were going up and down like crazy and I was just riding the wave, and then they ended up going down big time. I left it there. I’ve always had the mentality of being a long-term investor, so that worked in my favor, but I didn’t know what I was doing in the space. I couldn’t tell you the difference between what Solana was versus Ethereum. It was all the same to me.

How quickly did you start seeing returns on your crypto investments?

As soon as I started taking things seriously is when I really started to see returns. It took me maybe five or six months to really start making money. Within the first five months, I made about $67,000. As you get more comfortable in the asset class, as you get more understanding, as you make a bit of money, you start to invest more money. Anytime I was earning on the paychecks, it’s going into Bitcoin, it’s going into the asset class, and it starts to snowball on itself. There’s a compounding effect and you begin to make even more after that.

What has been the hardest part of your crypto investing journey?

I think it’s riding the ups and downs. Because investing is not a linear thing. You have to go with how the market goes. You can’t force the market to go up or force your investments to go up. You have to be patient and let the market do what it does and position yourself accordingly to make money in that environment. Unlike a salary job where you’re making your paycheck every two weeks, in investing you could be making $5,000 one month but the next month you lose $3,000. There’s a journey, you’re on the up and then you’re on the down and it’s easy to get down.

Were there any major turning points in your journey?

This has coincided with my life journey. As I’ve gotten older, I realized the type of person that I wanted to become – someone who can be a provider, someone who can be relied upon, someone who can be trusted not only amongst my friends but amongst my family. To be the strongest version of yourself as a guy, you have to be someone who can carry a lot of responsibility and do a lot of things. So as I got older, I realized I wanted to be able to do as many things as possible.

How has combat sports contributed to your confidence and success?

Professor Adam talked about enjoying fighting and Muay Thai, so I joined a Muay Thai gym two months ago. I’ve been going to the gym for 10 years consistently, got a nice body, but what’s the point of having all those muscles if you can’t use it when it comes time to use it? Confidence level is so important. A lot of guys ask how to become more confident, but it’s not something that just happens overnight. You have to put in the work to attain that confidence. I’ve been playing sports my whole life, in the gym my whole life, studying my whole life, learning my whole life. I’ve been fine-tuning my mind and my body, and that allows me to be a confident individual.

What are your core investing principles?

The most important thing is the mentality. You want to be calm, cold, collected, stoic, fully analyze a situation. There’s always going to be noise in the market, and the best headlines are the scary headlines. The most important thing is to stay calm and think about your long-term goals. If you have a goal that you set, like saving enough to buy a house in the next five years, you have a five-year time horizon. Don’t let what happens on the week-to-week basis change your mentality. You have to take out the noise and just look for the signal.

What are your long-term financial goals?

I had a goal initially to buy my first place, and I was able to achieve that. Now, I want to be saving enough so that I can buy a house whenever the time comes right for me to find a wife and have kids. I want to be able to afford that lifestyle. It doesn’t have to be a concrete goal like wanting to be a millionaire by a certain age. You could have a general direction that you’re trying to push towards, and you’re always doing little things to get you closer towards that direction. Right now, I really want to be wealthy to the point where I don’t have to worry about anything.

How has The Real World contributed to your success?

It’s not just The Real World. I have to give a shout out to Andrew Tate. His mentality has been a big helper. I’m a big fan of the emergency meetings that he does where he’s breaking things down on a molecular level. The way that he’s able to analyze situations is truly impressive. I see that and think to myself, I want to be a high-level guy. Why can’t I analyze things the way that he can? It’s almost like I have a competitive thing going on with him in my own head. I have that drive internally.

How important is having a competitive edge for success?

Men are naturally competitive. If you’re not, then there’s something wrong. Whether it be boxing, business, or even playing Smash Bros, you have to have that competitive edge. That’s what keeps us moving forward, driving forward, keeping us on our toes. If you haven’t got that competitive edge, then you’re not going to achieve what you really want to achieve because you’re not really fighting for it. You don’t go to the trenches to go get it.

Have you recommended The Real World to your friends?

It’s actually hard because I’ve been blessed with a lot of friends, but a lot of them don’t have this mentality. Once you start to think this way, it’s almost kind of taxing because your peers around you aren’t thinking like that. A majority of them aren’t seeing things the way you’re seeing them. You almost can’t relate to them in a lot of these things. I have recommended it to a couple of my boys, but I don’t think any of them have joined, which just goes to show how early this thing is in its stages.

Do you think The Real World should be more accessible to the general public?

I think they’re going to make it a little bit more difficult accessibility-wise solely because they want to make it individual. It’s only for the people that want to actually progress in the world. Those people who aren’t really driven, who haven’t got that ambition, that competitive edge, why would we make it accessible for them? It’s for the people that have that ambition, that drive, that really want to do well. It’s a very small amount of people.
